Gardai in Monaghan are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occured between a car and a motor cycle at Lismeagh, Smithboro, Co Monaghan last night Friday 9th May 2014 at approximately 9p.m.
The collision occurred on the N54, main Monaghan to Clones Road outside Smithboro village, in the town land of Lismeagh. A male motorcyclist (29 years) was seriously injured in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was removed to Cavan mortuary where a post mortem will be carried out this morning. The driver of the car and her passenger were uninjured.
The road is closed to facilitate a Forensic Collision Examination and local diversions are in place.
