Fatal road traffic collision at Bagenalstown, Carlow on the 11/5/14

Gardai in Bagenalstown are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occured at Kilcarrig, Bagenalstown, at approximately 2.45p.m. this afternoon 11th May 2014.

A female passenger (mid 70s) was fatally injured when the car she was travelling in collided with a jeep. She was pronounced dead at the scene and her body has been removed to Carlow mortuary. The driver of the car (female, early 70s) has been removed to St. Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny with serious injuries. The female driver of the jeep (mid 30s) has been taken to the same hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The road has re-opened after Garda forensic collision investigators have examined the scene.
