Drug seizure and arrests at Longford on the 18/5/14

As part of on-going intelligence-led operations targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the Longford area, Gardaí from the Divisional Drugs Unit and Detective Units as part of a joint operation, have seized a quantity of drugs and arrested two men at an address in Abbeyshrule, Co. Longford. The search took place on Sunday 18th May 2014 at approximately 9:45pm.

During the course of the search, Gardaí seized 55 cannabis plants and a quantity of cannabis herb with an estimated value of €45,000 (pending analysis). Two men aged in their 20s were arrested at the scene and brought to Longford Garda station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984. Both men were later released and a file is to be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
