Gardaí have arrested a male following an assault on a female and theft of a car in Dublin’s city centre this afternoon.
The car was taken during an incident on Hill St. near Mountjoy Square at approximately 3pm today. A female aged in her 30s was a passenger in the car at the time. The car was observed by a passing Garda patrol and stopped following a brief pursuit at Sean McDermott St. A male aged in his late 20s alighted from the car and was apprehended and arrested by Gardaí. He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at Store St. Garda Station.
The female passenger was taken to Hospital where she is receiving treatment for injuries sustained during the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
