Update - Fatal road traffic collision at Clonmel, Co. Tipperary 18th March, 2014

Gardaí investigating a fatal road traffic collision in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary on the 18th of March 2014 have arrested a 20-year-old male.

He was arrested this morning (20/3/2014) and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at Clonmel Garda Station.


Investigating Gardaí are continuing to appeal for anyone with information to contact Clonmel Garda Station on 052 - 6177640, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.


The investigation is ongoing.

Gardaí at Clonmel, Co. Tipperary are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision which occurred at Rathronan, Clonmel in the early hours of this morning Tuesday 18th March, 2014 at approximately 1.20a.m.

The front seat passenger of the car, a man, 28 years, was fatally injured when the vehicle he was travelling in hit a ditch. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a male 20 years, was taken to South Tipperary Hospital with non life threatening injuries. 

The road is currently closed to facilitate a Garda Forensic Collision Examination and local diversions are in place.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have been in the area between 1a.m. and 1.30a.m. this morning to contact them in Clonmel Garda Station on 052 - 6177640, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
