Update - Eight persons arrested in relation to Burglaries in the Dun Laoghaire area on the 20/3/14

A male in his 20s is due to appear before a sitting of Dun Laoghaire District Court this morning (21/3/2014) charged in connection with this investigation.

A second male (20s) is expected to appear before a sitting of Cloverhill District Court on Monday next the 24th March 2014. Six others arrested during the operation have been released without charge - files will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

As part of Operation Acer a local operation was put in place by Gardaí from the Detective Units, Crime Task Force and Drugs units based in Dun Laoghaire and Blackrock to combat burglaries in the Dun Laoghaire, Blackrock, Dundrum and Cabinteely areas.

During the operation to date Gardaí have recovered jewellery, clothing,computer and electronic equipment and a car.

 
On the 20th March 2014, as part of the operation, Gardaí searched houses in Tallaght and Wicklow and arrested seven males (ranging in ages from 19 to 23yrs) and one female (21 years).

Two of the males and the female were arrested on foot of bench warrants and will appear before Dun Laoghaire and Tallaght District Courts at 10.30am this morning the 20th March 2014. The remainder are being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, as amended, at Dun Laoghaire, Dundrum and Blackrock Garda stations.
