Fatal single vehicle road traffic collision at Ballymote, Sligo on the 5/3/14

Gardaí at Ballymote are investigating a fatal single vehicle road traffic collision which occurred at Corballa, Co Sligo on the 5th March 2014.

The collision occurred at approximately 1 am on a secondary road (L6606) off the main Sligo to Ballina Road (the road is approimately 7 km outside Ballina which leads to Enniscrone) when a 4x4 went off the road and collided with an embankment.  The male driver (50yrs) was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene his remains have been removed to the morgue at Sligo General Hospital. 

 
The road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.
