Thursday 6th March

On Thursday the 6th March a traffic management plan including local traffic restrictions will be put in place at the front and rear of the Convention Centre Dublin (CCD) on North Wall Quay.  A number of "lay-bys” will be created outside the CCD to facilitate the arrival of 1500 delegates & the media arriving at the venue. At this time traffic flows will be maintained if possible in all directions on North Wall Quay.

It should be borne in mind that pedestrian restrictions from approaching the CCD will be in place so residents / employees should have a form of ID to ease access to their place of employment & residences.

Protests:

An Garda Síochána fully recognise the right of people to peacefully protest. This must be balanced against the right of public to go about their normal business, work etc. In the event of any protest march taking place throughout the congress a contingency plan will be in place to close Custom House Quay/North Wall Quay and Guild Street/Samuel Beckett Bridge if necessary.  Closures of this nature will be avoided if at all possible.

Conclusion

The general area around the North Quays is a residential and business community and An Garda Síochána will work closely with these communities and thank them for their continued co operation and support. An Garda Síochána welcome all visitors to the congress and in particular those who travelled from abroad.
