Community Relations Bureau releases children’s activity book

The National Community Policing Office at the Garda Community Relations Bureau has designed and developed a Garda Children’s Activity Book.

The book is an additional children’s publication to the Garda Colouring Book released in 2012, and includes 13 activities and a 4 page cross-generational story that promotes positive engagement with older people.

The aims of the Garda Children’s Activity Book are to promote and help children (aged 6-12 years) to:

• be safer at home

• be safe on the roads

• understand crime prevention

• engage positively with older people

• learn about some of the duties of An Garda Síochána

Speaking at its launch, Superintendent Karl Heller, Garda Community Relations Bureau said:

"Our colouring book in 2012 received such positive feedback we felt that we should build on the initiative and produce an activity book that has an even broader appeal.

This activity book is suitable for children from 6 years old up to 12, and it will act as an introduction to personal safety as well as the work An Garda Síochána.

I am delighted that we have been able to donate a number of the books to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin, Cork City Hospital’s Children’s Club, Aoibheann’s Pink Tie and Bumbleance in advance of its full release.

We will continue to place the people we serve at the heart of the work we carry out, and ensure young people are aware of the importance of their personal safety, and the safety of their communities
