Cash in Transit robbery on Cork Street, Dublin on the 19/12/14

Gardai in Kevin Street are investigating an armed robbery of a CIT van on Cork Street, Dublin 8 at approx 7.40am on the 19th December 2014.

A number of males who were believed to be in possesion of a firearm threatened the CIT staff and demanded money and left the scene with a sum of money. A member of the CIT staff received minor injuries and received medical treatment at scene.

 
Gardai were alerted to the incident and arrested a male in his 30's a short distance away. A sum of money and a firearm were recovered.The male is being detained at Kevin St Garda station under the provisions of Section 30 Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended.

 
A van believed to have been involved in the robbery was discovered on fire at Dublin's Barn Green, along the canal, Dublin Fire Brigade are at scene

 
Gardai in Kevin St are appealing for witnesses, in particular at the scene of the robbery on Cork St anyone who may have seen suspicious activity prior to the robbery or who may have seen persons fleeing from the van on Dolphin's Barn Green to contact them in Kevin St on 01 6669400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
