Fatal road traffic collision in Co. Limerick 26/04/14

Gardai in Newcastle West are investigating a fatal road traffic collision on the N69, Askeaton side of Kildimo, that occurred at approximately 1am this morning (26/04/14).

A 31 year old male was fatally injured when he fell out the rear door of a car travelling on the N69. This car then left the scene. He was then struck by a second vehicle travelling on the same road. This car remained at the scene. He was pronounced dead and his body remains at the scene.

This stretch of road is currently closed and local diversions are in place. The road is expected to remain closed until this afternoon. HGV’s travelling on this route are asked to use the N21.      

Gardai wish to appeal for witnesses to this collision or to anyone who may have information relating to a 99 WH registration light blue car, possibly a Toyota Avensis or a BMW, that the deceased fell from, to contact Newcastle West garda station on 069 20650, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
