Gardai in Portarlington are investigating a two vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred at Ballymorris, Portarlington, Co. Laois yesterday evening at approximately 8.40pm.
The female driver in her 30’s of one of the cars along with the two passengers, a 4 year old boy, and a 7 year old boy were injured and brought to Portlaoise and Tullamore Hospitals. The 4 year old boy was pronounced dead late last night.
The driver and sole occupant of the second car was arrested at the scene and has since been released without charge. The investigation is ongoing.
This stretch of road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.
