Robbery at Clonalvy Post Office, Meath on the 21/11/12

Gardaí at Ashbourne, Co Meath are investigating a robbery at Clonalvy Post Office which occurred at 9.40am on the 21/11/12.

Two masked raiders (both male) entered the Post Office and threatened staff with a knife.  They demanded cash and fled the shop with an undisclosed amount of money, as they were leaving the shop they dropped the cash and attempted to escape in a car which was parked outside, both raiders left on foot.  It is believed that both men then stole a car but abandoned it a short time later.


Garda units assisted by the Garda Air Support Unit immediately searched the area  and arrested two men (both in their 20’s) in connection with this investigation.  They are currently detained at Ashbourne Garda Station under Section 4- Criminal Justice Act 1984.


Investigations are continuing.
