Fatal traffic collision in Kilkenny on the 16/3/12

Gardaí can confirm that a man in his late 50s was fatally injured in this afternoons crash on the M9 motorway in Kilkenny.

The incident involving a car and a tractor towing a trailer happened at 3.30 pm on the 16th of March.  The dead man was the driver and only occupant of the car.  He was removed to Waterford Regional Hospital where a post mortem examination will be carried out.

The southbound carriageway of the M9 between junctions 9 (Danesfort) & 10 (Knocktopher) remains closed to traffic. Diversions are in place in the area.

Gardaí in Kilkenny are investigating a serious road traffic collision on the M9 between junctions 9 and 10 southbound.

The incident, involving a car and a tractor towing a trailer, happened at 3.30 pm on the 16th March 2012.


The southbound carriageway of the M9 between junctions 9 (Danesfort) & 10 (Knocktopher) is closed to traffic and is not expected to re-open for a number of hours. Diversions are in place in the area.
