Witness Appeal - Newtownmountkennedy Incident - boy injured

Gardaí investigating an incident at Newtownmountkennedy where a five year old boy was injured are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

The boy received injuries to his hands and has been taken to Crumlin Children's Hospital. It is believed that the injuries were caused by an explosive device.

 
The incident took place outside a house at Sycamore Drive, Newtownmountkennedy, Co. Wicklow at approximately 8.00am this morning 20th June 2012 and is being investigated by Gardaí from Bray Garda Station supported by National Garda units.


The scene of the incident has been sealed off to facilitate a forensic examination and house to house enquiries are being carried out in the area.


Gardaí are asking anyone who was in the Sycamore Drive area of Newtownmountkennedy between 9pm on Tuesday the 19th and 8 am on the 20th of June to contact them.


Gardaí are also asking anyone in the Newtownmountkennedy area who may have noticed any unusual or suspicious activity overnight or in the last number of weeks to contact them at Bray Garda Station on 01 666 5300.
