Bogus Traders warning in Cork on the 4/7/12

Gardaí in Cork City have issued a warning to members of the public particularly the elderly and vulnerable in relation to a number of crimes including Burglary which have been committed in the Ballinlough, Douglas and Rochestown area of Cork in the last few weeks.

Callers to houses represent themselves as employees of Local Authorities indicating that they need to check Gas/Power/Water supplies. While the homeowner is preoccupied with one of these callers a second person enters the house and steals property.

Homeowners are asked to check the bona fida of all callers and always ask for identification. If a person is worried or concerned they are asked to immediately contact the Gardaí. Genuine callers will always provide identification.

Neighbours and family are asked to be vigilant in this regard and to report any suspicious activity to Gardaí.
