Witness appeal - Serious road traffic collision on Griffith Avenue, Dublin on the 18/1/12

Gardai in Clontarf investigating a serious road traffic collision on Griffith Avenue on the 18th January 2012 are appealing for witnesses.

The collision occurred at approximately 12 noon on the 18th of January on Griffith Avenue between the junctions at Malahide Road and Philipsburgh Avenue.  A lorry and a pedestrian (in his 70's) were involved in the collision.  The pedestrian was taken to Beaumont Hospital where he is currently being treated for his injuries.

 
The road was closed for a period of time yesterday to facilitate a Forensic Collision examination.

Witnesses are asked to contact the Gardai in Clontarf on  01 6664800, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

Griffith Avenue is currently closed to traffic in both directions between the junctions at Malahide Road and Philipsburgh Avenue.

It is due to a collision involving a pedestrian (male aged in his 70's) and a lorry.

Gardai and emergency services are at the scene and diversions are in place.
