Suspicious Death in Kimmage, Dublin on the 7/1/12 - Update

The 74 year old man killed in Ravensdale Close yesterday, Saturday, the 7th January 2012, has been named as Edward Boylan.

His post mortem is underway at present in the City Morgue, Marino.
 

The 29 year old man arrested remains in custody.

A 29 year old man was arrested in the Dublin City Centre in the early hours of this morning, Sunday 8th January 2012, in relation to this investigation.

He is detained at Crumlin Garda Station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Gardaí at Crumlin are investigating all the circumstances following the discovery of the body of a male (believed to be in his early 70s) at Ravensdale Close, Kimmage, Dublin 12.

The body was discovered at approximately 2pm (7th January 2012) when the emergency services were alerted to a fire at a property. The death is being treated as suspicious.

The scene has been sealed off for technical examination and the Office of the State Pathologist has been informed.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area of Ravensdale Close in the hours leading up to the discovery of the body and who may have any information that will assist in the investigation to contact Crumlin on 01-6666600, the Garda Confidential Line 1800-666-111, or any Garda Station.
