Drug seizure and arrests in Tullamore, Offaly on the 24/1/12

Three men are expected to appear before a sitting of Portlaoise District Court this morning (26/1/2012) charged in relation to this investigation.

Gardai in Tullamore have seized a large quantity of drugs and arrested three people in an operation on the 24th January 2011.

The search took place at a warehouse at Aughnacarna, Durrow, Tullamore, Co. Offally at 9.30 p.m.  Gardai discovered a large cannabis cultivation operation at the warehouse.

Five thousand cannabis plants have been recovered (estimated street value pending analysia €1.5 million).

Three non Irish nationals, all males, were arrested at the scene, one ages 30 years and two in their 20's. They are detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Tullamore Garda Station
