A 28 year old man is expected to appear before Athlone District Court this morning (11/1/12).
He is charged in connection with the seizure of cannabis plants.

As a result of an ongoing operation by the Divisional Drug Unit in Mullingar, assisted by local Gardai and Regional Response Units two searches were carried out in Mullingar on the 9th January 2012. During the operation a total of 450 cannabis plants (pending analysis) were seized with an approximate street value of €180,000.
A male (28yrs) was arrested during the operation, he is being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended at Mullingar Garda Station.
The houses searched were in Ardleigh Park and Clonmore Heights in Mullingar. Both had sophisticated cultivation processes in operation.
