Attempted Post office robbery in Arklow, Wicklow on the 3/1/12

Gardai in Arklow investigating an attempted armed robbery of a Post Office in Arklow on the 3rd January 2012 have arrested a male (25yrs).

The attempted armed robbery occurred at approx 2.10pm on the 3rd January when a male entered the Post office and produced what is believed to be a firearm.  He left the Post office with nothing.  No one was injured in the incident.  He fled the scene in a blue coloured car.
 

At approx 8.40pm on the 3rd January 2012 a male was arrested in connection with the incident close to Ashford, Co. Wicklow.  He is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended at Wicklow Garda Station.
