Attempted abduction in Kildare on the 27/4/11 - Arrests on the 10/1/12

Gardai in Kildare investigating the attempted abduction of a security company employee and his wife and 2 year old son on the morning of the 27th April 2011 at 5am at Kilmeade, Co. Kildare have arrested three males today the 10th January 2012 in connection with the incident.

They were arrested in Dublin this morning.  Two are in their late 30's and are being detained in Naas and Newbridge Garda Stations, and one is in his late 40's is being detained in Leixlip Garda Station.  All are being detained under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 as amended.

Gardai in Kildare are investigating the attempted abduction of a security company employee, his wife and 2 year old son this morning the 27th of April 2011 at 5 am.

The incident took place in Kilmeade,near Athy, Co.Kildare.

Four armed and masked men attempted to take the family hostage, as the man, who is in his 30s left for work. A panic alarm was activated and the raiders fled the scene on foot. The raiders left behind a white van at the scene. Gardai believe that the raiders may have been picked up by a car nearby.

Gardai would like anyone who in the Kilmeade area of Co. Kildare or anyone who was traveling on the N78 between Kilcullen and Athy, in the early hours of this morning to contact them at Kildare Garda Station on 045 527730. Gardai are also appealing for anyone who may have seen any activity in the Kilmeade area in the last number of days to contact them.
