Update on Garda traffic alert - Kilmacow area of Kilkenny on the 3/8/12

Fire Services and Gardai remain at the scene of a fire at an oil depot the R448 (Kilmacow to Waterford Road) and local traffic diversions are in place. There are no reported injuries.

Although the fire is visible from the M9 motorway between Junctions 9 & 10 the motorway unaffected by the fire. Gardai are asking motorists travelling on the motorway to maintain safe progress and not to stop or slow down suddenly as this can cause a potential hazzard.

Emergency services are at the scene of a fire at an oil depot on the R448 (Kilmacow to Waterford road).

The fire was discovered shortly before midday on the 3rd August.


Gardaí are asking local motorists to avoid the area. Gardaí are also asking those travelling on the Dublin/Cork motorway to NOT exit at the Mullinavat exit.


Local diversions are in place. Please avoid the area and permit the emergency services to carry out their job.
