Gardai have arrested a man in the Longford area as part of this investigation. The man in his 20s was arrested on the 22nd of Septermber 2011 and is detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act 1939 at Longford Garda Station. This brings the number of arrests to nine. All of the men remain in custody. <_o3a_p>Original press release: As part of ongoing investigations into dissident Republican activity, Gardai from the Special Detective Unit, assisted by local Units, carried out search and arrest operations this morning in the South-Eastern, Southern and <_st13a_place>Western Garda Regions. <_o3a_p> <_o3a_p>So far Gardai have carried out 15 searches in counties Wexford, <_st13a_city><_st13a_city><_st13a_place>Waterford, Clare and Longford. <_o3a_p>Eight men have been arrested and are all detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act 1939, on suspicion of membership of an unlawful organisation and unlawful possession of firearms and explosives. <_o3a_p> <_o3a_p>Two men, one in his 50s and one in his late 20s are detained at New Ross Garda Station. Two, one in his 40s and the other late 20s are detained at <_st13a_city><_st13a_place>Waterford Garda Station. Two in Tramore one in his 30s and one in his 20s. One man in his early 30s is detained at Dungarvan, one man in his mid 60s at Ennis Garda Station. <_o3a_p> <_o3a_p>Gardai have recovered a revolver and a large quantity of ammunition, during one of the searchs in Co.Wexford. In other searches suspected explosive component parts, equipment and material were seized. <_o3a_p> <_o3a_p>The operation in on-going and further updates will be issued.
