Fatal road traffic collision at Bandon, Cork on the 19/9/11

Gardai in Bandon, Co. Cork are investigating a three vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the N71 Innishannon to Bandon Road at Curranure at approximately 6pm on the 19th September 2011. 
 

A woman in her 60’s who was the front seat passenger of one of the vehicles was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene. The drive of the same car, a male in his 60’s, was taken to Cork University Hospital with injuries described as serious. The driver and sole occupant of the second vehicle was also taken to Cork University Hospital  with injuries described as serious.  The driver and sole occupant of the third vehicle did not require hospital treatment. 
 

This stretch of the road is currently closed pending completion of an examination by Garda Forensic Collision investigators and local diversions are in place.
