Suspect improvised explosive device at Broadford, Kildare on the 13/10/11

Gardai in Lexlip are investigating the discovery of a suspect improvised explosive device which was thrown through a window of a house in Broadford, Co. Kildare on the 13th October 2011 at approximately 10.50pm.

Gardai were alerted and set up a cordon which involved evacuated the house and two other neighbouring houses.  The Army Explosive Ordinacne Disposal Unit were contacted and attended the scene.  There were a number of people present in the house at the time and no one was injured.  There was no damage to the house.  The Army EOD took position of the device for a technical examination.  The scene has also been preserved for a technical examination.

 
Gardai wish to appeal for witnesses that may have been in the Broadford Village area around the time of the incident and who may have seen anything unusual or suspicious or who may be able to assist with the investigation to contact Lexlip Garda Station on 01 6667800, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
