Shooting incident in Limerick City on the 11/10/11

Gardai in Roxboro Road are investigating the circumstances on an incident in which a car failed to stop for Gardai on the Dooradoyle Road, Limerick at approx 4.30pm on the 11th October 2011.

Two Garda cars were damaged and a Garda member was injured in the incident he was taken to Limerick Regional Hospital for observation.  Gardai discharged a number of shots in the course of the incident.
 
Two males have been arrested.  Both are being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended (a male in his late 20's in Henry Street and a male in his mid 30's in Roxboro Road Garda station).
 
A scene is being preserved on the  Dooradoyle Road, Limerick for technical examination.
 
The Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission has been notified.
