Murder of Thomas McDonagh on the 3/9/11 - Arrests

Gardai from Ballymun investigating the fatal shooting of Thomas McDonagh on the 3rd September 2011 at St. Margarets Park, Ballymun, Dublin carried a total of ten (10) searches on Tuesday morning, the 11th October 2011.

These searches were conducted in North Dublin, North Inner City Dublin, Co. Meath and Saggart Co. Dublin .


Gardai from  Ballymun were assisted by Gardai from DMR North, DMR West, DMR North Central, Meath Division, Eastern Regional Support Unit, SDU, ERU, GBFI, NBCI, Garda Dog Unit, Garda Mounted Unit and Air Support Unit.


As a result of this operation three (3) people have been arrested and are currently detained at Ballymun and Santry Garda stations.


Two males (aged 37yrs and 25yrs) have been arrested for the murder of Thomas McDonagh and are currently detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.


One female aged 27 is currently detained under Section 30 Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended in relation to the same investigation.


Gardai would like to acknowledge the support they have received from the  public following this fatal shooting.

 
Gardai continue to appeal for witnesses or anyone with information, in particular Gardai want to hear from any witnesses that observed the culprits getting into a waiting vehicle on the M50 motorway adjacent the Water Tower close to the Finglas exit on the 3rd September 2011 between 9.45pm and 10pm to contact them in Ballymun on 01 666 4400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
