The pedestrian killed in yesterday's collision in Galway has been named as 73 year old Tony Wheatley of Dun Na Mara, Renmore, Galway.
The road has since re-opened.

Gardaí at Galway are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred at approximately 6.30pm yesterday evening, Friday 21st October 2011. A 73 year old male pedestrian was seriously injured when he was struck by a motorcyclist on the Renmore Road in the city. He was taken by ambulance to UHG where he died of his injuries later last night.
The road remains closed at present to facilitate a forensic investigation
