Armed robbery and arrests at Trim, Meath on the 25/10/11

Gardai in Trim have arrested three males following an armed robbery at a jewellers in Trim, Co. Meath this evening, the 25th of October 2011.

At approximately 4.50pm three males entered a jewellers on Emmett Street in Trim.  They left with a quantity of jewellery after assaulting the owner, a male in his 70’s.  Gardai responding to the robbery arrested one male outside the shop and the other two were arrested a short time later with the assistance of the Regional Support Unit and the Garda Air Support Unit. What is believed to be an imitation firearm (subject to technical examination) was recovered.  The owner was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for treatment. 
 

The males are currently detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Trim (1) and  Kells (2) Garda Stations.
