Robbery at Post Office, Tyrrellspass, Westmeath on the 25/11/11

Gardaí at Mullingar are investigating a robbery which occurred at the Post Office in Tyrrellspass at approximately 9.30am this morning (25/11/11).

Two men entered the Post Office armed with a knife and a sledgehammer, they threatened staff and demanded cash.  Both men left the premises with an undisclosed amount of cash.  There were no injuries sustained by any staff members. 

In a follow up operation Gardaí arrested two men (both in their 20’s). They are both detained at Mullingar Garda Station under Section 30 Offences Against the State Act 1939. 

Cash and implements used in the robbery have also been recovered.
