Message from An Garda Síochána on the 19/5/11

Gardai would like to thank the public again for their continued support and cooperation with the ongoing policing operation in Dublin City, Kildare, Tipperary and Cork for the visit of HM Queen Elizabeth II.

Yesterday afternoon and evening were particularly challenging in Dublin City as, in addition to VIP movements relating to the Royal Visit, Gardaí were involved in moving fans, media and other VIPs to and from Landsdowne Road and also dealt with a security alert on the North Wall Quay.  All of these tasks would not have been possible without the understanding and assistance of the community in Dublin city and we are grateful to them.

This afternoon and evening will see restrictions in the following areas:

The following roads are now closed to traffic:

North Wall Quay

Guild Street

Samuel Beckett Bridge

From 17:15 – 20:30 traffic restrictions including periodic road closures will be in place on the following routes and adjacent streets:

The Phoenix Park

Parkgate Street

North Quays

South Quays

Full details of closures and restrictions as well as information on available routes can be found at http://www.garda.ie/QueenDublinLatest.htm Updates regarding closures and reopening of roads will also be available from @gardatraffic.

Details for the visit to Tipperary and Cork tomorrow, Friday 20 May 2011 can be found at http://www.garda.ie/QueenCorkTipperary.htm
