Message from An Garda Siochana on the 17th May 2011

Gardai would like to thank the public for their support and assistance with today's policing operation in Dublin city.

In particular we are grateful for the understanding of commuters who took advice and used public transport and for the spectators and pedestrians along the routes who cooperated with Gardaí on the ground.

All traffic restrictions and diversions have now been lifted in the city.

We would ask the public to continue to work with us tomorrow both in the context of the ongoing Royal Visit and tomorrow evening's UEFA Europa League Final in Landsdowne Road. An update of the traffic management plan for both the Visit and the match are now on the Garda website.

Following public order incidents in the city including O'Connell Street and Dorset Street a total of 21 people have been arrested. They are currently detained Store Street, the Bridewell and Pearse Street Garda Stations.
