Firearm incident Smithfield 6th March - arrest

Gardaí at the Bridewell this morning, 7th May 2011, arrested a 21 year old man in relation to the firearm incident in Smithfield on the morning of Sunday 6th March 2011.

He is presently detained at The Bridewell Garda Station under section 30 of The Offences Against The State Act.

This brings the total arrested in relation to this incident to 4.

Gardai at the Bridewell are investigating all the circumstances following a firearm incident in the Smithfield area of Dublin this morning the 6th of March 2011 at approximately 11.30am.

Two males (no ages currently available) received injuries that are not thought to be life threatening. They have been taken Hospitals in the City centre.

In addition a suspect device was found in the area and Army EOD are currently at the Bridewell Garda Station.
