Arrest of 6 men on the 19th June 2011 in relation to dissident republican activities

As part of ongoing operations into the activities of dissident republicans Gardai attached to the Special Detective Unit, and the Louth-Meath Division stopped an articulated lorry on the M1 at Drogheda, Co Louth at approximately 11pm on the 19th June 2011.

The lorry was stolen and contained an assignment of alcohol. A second trailer was also seized containing alcohol. Three men(in their 30's) were arrested and are being detained in Balbriggan and Drogheda Garda Stations under the provisions of Section 30 Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended.
During a follow up search three other men(in their 30's) were arrested in Delvin and are being detained in Kells and Navan Garda Stations.
