Fraudulent device on ATM machine in Greystones, Wicklow on the 28/7/11

Gardai in Greystones investigating an incident where a cash trapping device was attached to an ATM at Church road, Greystones on the 28th July 2011 arrested a male (21yrs) in connection with the incident.

(A cash trapping device is where a device traps the the cash as it exits the machine the customer believing that the machine is broken moves onto the next machine or in some cases tries again.  When the customer leaves the area the culprit returns and removes the device and cash.)
 
He was detained in Bray Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.
 
He was later charged and bailed to a special sitting of Bray District Court on Wednesday, the 3rd August 2011 at 10.30am.
 
Gardai would like to remind the public of the care to be taken at ATM's and report any suspicious activity or irregularities  to the Gardai and also to their bank.
