Gardai in Athy, Kildare are investigating an incident in which a petrol canister was placed at the front door of a house on the Castledermot Road in Athy at approximately 6.30pm on Saturday evening, the 22nd January 2011.
The canister was set alight and caused substantial damage to the door and surrounding parts of the house. A man and a woman were in the house at the time but no one was injured in the incident. Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously or carrying what may have been a petrol canister in the Castledermot Road area between 6.00pm and 6.30am to contact Gardai in Athy on 059-8634210.
