Fatal traffic collision Co. Cork

Gardaí at Midleton are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the N25 at Cahermone - the main Cork to Waterford Road.

The collision happened at approximately 2.30pm today, Sunday 16th January 2011, and involved a motorcyclist and a car.

The 55 year old male motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Cork University Hospital.

Forensic collision investigators are at scene at present and the road is closed to until their examination is complete.

Diversions are in place.
