Double stabbing in Drogheda, Louth on the 6/1/11 - Update

The 32 year old man who was stabbed in Drogheda yesterday passed away in the early hours of this morning (Friday, the 7th January 2011) in St. Vincents Hospital, Dublin.

A 30 year old man was arrested in Drogheda late last night in relation to the investigation and is presently detained in Drogheda under Section 4 of The Criminal Justice Act.

The 30 year old woman who was also stabbed remains in Our Ladies of Lourdes Hospital but her injuries are not life threatening.

Gardaí at Drogheda are investigating a double stabbing incident that occurred shortly after 2pm today, the 6/1/11 in an apartment within the Fitzwilliam Court Apartment Complex on Dyer Street.

A male and a female, believed to be in their late 30’s, sustained serious injuries in the incident.  Both the injured parties were taken to Our lady of Lourdes Hospital.


His condition is described as being critical and the woman’s condition is described as being stable.


No arrests have been made to date.


The scene has been sealed off and an investigation is underway.
