Criminal activity as part of Operation Anvil in Louth on the 19/1/11 - Arrests

Gardai in Dundalk investigating criminal activity as part of Operation Anvil in the north Louth area have arrested two men.

The arrests were made following an incident in the Omeath, Co. Louth at approximately midnight on the 18th January 2011.  During this incident a patrol car was rammed and one shot was discharged by a member of An Garda Síochána.

One of the men was arrested at the scene and the other a short distance away.

Both men who are aged in their 20's are currently detained under Section 30 of the offences against the State Act, 1939, at Dundalk Garda Station.

A technical examination of the scene is underway and enquiries are ongoing.
