Bodies discovered in Limerick on the 9/1/11 - Updates

Gardaí investigating the murder of a male and female at a house in O’Malley Park on 10/1/11 have released one man without charge this morning (12/1/11). (He was held at Mayorstone Garda Station).

Further Arrest:

A 49 year old man was arrested this morning (12/1/11) in the Limerick City area.  He is currently detained at Mayorstone Garda Station under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.


The total now in custody is eight (8).

A further arrest has been made in relation to this investigation.

A woman in her mid 30's was arrested in the city this morning and is detained at Henry Street Garda Station under Section 30 of The Offences Against The State Act.

The other 7 remain in custody, so the overall total is now 8.

Early this afternoon seven people (four males, three females) range in age from their mid 20's to their 50's were arrested in the Limerick area and are being detained at the following Garda Stations under Section 50 of Criminal Justice Act 2007.

1 Mayorstone - Male
1 Shannon - Female
2 Henry Street - Female
1 Newcastle West - Male

The post mortems are ongoing.

Gardai are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the discovery of 2 bodies at a house in Limerick on the 9/1/11.

At approximately 11.30am the bodies of a male and a female, both aged in their 20's, were discovered in a house at O’Malley Park.

Members of the Garda Technical Bureau are attending the scene and the State Pathologist has been notified.

An incident room has been set up at Roxoboro  Garda Station.

Gardai are appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity of O’Malley Pk and noticed any suspicious activity between 1130pm on the 8th of January and 1130am on the 9th January to contact them.
