Appeal for witnesses - Co. Roscommon fatal collision

Gardai from Boyle Garda Station investigating the fatal road traffic collision on the Strokestown to Elphin Road at the townland of Lugboy on the 21st of January 2010 (pevious release below refers) are renewing their appeal for witnesses.

Gardai from Boyle Garda Station are investigating a fatal road traffic collision on the Strokestown to Elphin Road at the townland of Lugboy.  The crash happened at about 1.00 p.m. on the 21st of January 2010 and involved a car and an articulated lorry.

The  occupants of the car an 86 year old man and his sister, an 83 year old woman were both taken to Roscommon General Hospital. The woman died this evening as a result of her injuries.  The man was transferred to University College Hospital Galway with serious injuries.

The road at the scene has re-opened to traffic following an examination of the area by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
