Shooting in Finglas, Dublin on the 30/12/10 - Arrests

Gardai in Finglas investigating the shooting incident which occurred outside “The Cappagh Nua” public house on Barry Road on 30th December 2010, have this morning the 2nd February 2011 carried out a number of searches and arrested 8 people (5 (ranging from 26 to 46 yrs) males and 3 females (31, 26, 29 yrs))

The suspects are being detained under the provisions of Section 30 Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended.  The suspects are being detained in the following Garda stations: Bray, Dun Laoghaire, Blanchardstown, Finglas and Cabra.

Gardai in Finglas investigating the shooting incident which occurred outside “The Cappagh Nua” public house on Barry Road on 30th December 2010 (previous release below refers) are renewing their appeal for information. 

A black Volkswagon Golf estate partial registration 98 D which is believed to have been used as the getaway car was located by Gardai in the Charlestown area of Finglas on 31st December 2010.

Anyone who may have seen this car prior to the shooting or after the incident or any person who may have information is asked to contact the incident room at Finglas Garda station on  01-6667500, the Garda Confidential Line 1-800-666-111 or any Garda Station.

Gardaí at Finglas are investigating a shooting incident which occurred outside “The Cappagh Nua” public house on Barry Road, Finglas Dublin 11 at approximately 8.30pm last night (Thursday 30th December 2010)

A 40 year old man was standing outside the public house when a dark coloured car (believed to a Volkswagen Estate Car) drove up close to him. The front seat passenger got out and fired a number of shots hitting the 40 year old man in the chest.

The gunman got back into the car which was driven off in the direction of  Barry Avenue. The injured man was removed to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown.

Investigating officers are appealing to anyone who may have seen the dark coloured car prior to the shooting or after the incident or to any person who may have information  to contact the incident room at Finglas 01-6667500, the Garda Confidential Line 1-800-666-111 or any Garda Station.
