Fatal shooting near Waterloo, Blarney, Cork on the 10/2/11 - Update

Gardai investigating the fatal shooting of a 30 year old male in Blarney, Cork on the 10/2/2011 have recovered a firearm and a number of rounds of ammunition.

A rifle along with a number of live rounds of ammunition were discovered by Gardai searching land in the Garycloyne area this afternoon (14.2.2011).

Three men arrested in relation to the investigation remain in custody at Gurranabraher, Bridewell and Mayfield Garda stations.

Gardai in Gurranabraher in investigating a fatal shooting which occurred at approximately 4.00pm on the evening of the 10th February 2011 near Waterloo in Blarney, Cork will hold a Press Briefing at 11.30am on the 11th February 2011 at Gurranabraher  Garda Station.

Gardai in Gurranabraher are investigating a fatal shooting incident which occurred at approximately 4.00pm this evening, the 10th February 2011 near Waterloo in Blarney.

A male in his late 30’s was shot dead.  The body remains at the scene and the area is currently sealed off.

The State Pathologist has been notified and a post-mortem examination is expected to take place tomorrow.

Three men have been arrested and are currently being detained in Gurranabraher (2) and Mayfield (1) Garda stations under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.
