Gardaí in Newcastle West, Co. Limerick are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred at approx. 8pm on Sunday 27th February 2011, at Mountplummer, Broadford, Co Limerick (the location is just outside Broadford village on the Broadford to Ashford Rd.)
The collision involved a 4x4 and a pedestrian. The female pedestrian (60yrs) was pronounced dead at the scene. She was removed Limerick Regional Hospital where a post mortem will take place later today the 28th Feb 2011.
The scene of the collision was closed to facilitate a forensic collision investigation and it re-opened later last night.
