Gardaí in Galway are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred at approximately 4.30pm today, Saturday 19th February 2011, at Knockdoebeg, Lackagh, Galway (the location is about 13 miles outside Galway city just off the Galway to Tuam Road).
The collision involved a motorcyclist and a car, the motorcyclist 43yrs was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been removed to Galway University Hospital. The driver of the car was uninjured.
The road at the scene of the collision is closed at present to facilitate a forensic collision investigation. It is likely to be closed until tomorrow afternoon.
Diversions are in place.
