Murder investigation in Limerick, January 2011 - Further Update

The 2 females and one male juvenile arrested in this case have been released without charge.

A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.


That leaves 2 males remaining in custody, 1 at Roxboro Road Garda Station and 1 at Bruff Garda Station.

Gardai have arrested 5 people this morning (20/12/2011) as part of an ongoing investigation following the murders of Des Kelly and Breda Waters on the 8th of January 2011.

Three males (2 aged in their 30's & one juvenile) and two females (50's & late teens) were arrested in the Limerick area during this morning’s operation.

They are currently detained at Roxboro Road, Henry Street, Mayorstone and Bruff Garda Stations under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939.

Gardai are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the discovery of 2 bodies at a house in Limerick on the 9/1/11.

At approximately 11.30am the bodies of a male and a female, both aged in their 20's, were discovered in a house at O’Malley Park.

Members of the Garda Technical Bureau are attending the scene and the State Pathologist has been notified.

An incident room has been set up at Roxoboro Garda Station.
Gardai are appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity of O’Malley Pk and noticed any suspicious activity between 1130pm on the 8th of January and 1130am on the 9th January to contact them.
