Firearm recovered & cannabis resin seized in West Dublin on the 5/12/11 - Female charged

Gardai in Finglas investigating the seizure of €88,000 worth of cannabis resin (pending analysis) in the 5th December 2011 have released 2 men without charge file being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The female was charged and will appear before a sitting of Blanchardstown District Court at 10.30am this morning, the 7th December 2011

The male being questioned in relation to the discovery of a firearm  is still in custody.

As a part of ongoing investigations into criminal activity in the west Dublin area Gardai have recovered a firearm and seized cannabis resin during separate operations in the Finglas area.

A firearm (saw-off shogun) and a quantity of ammunition was recovered when a man aged in his 30s was searched at Clune Road, Finglas late yesterday evening (5/12/2011). The man is currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939.


In a separate operation Cannabis Resin, with an estimated street value of €88,000 (subject to analysis), was recovered and a 40 year old man arrested, when Gardai searched a house also in the Finglas area yesterday evening. The man is detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at Finglas Garda Station.
