Drug seizure and arrests in North County Dublin on the 30/8/11 - Two charged

Gardai investigating the discovery of 350 cannabis plants and 4 kilos of herbal cannabis (all subject to forensic analysis) at a rural dwelling house in North Co. Dublin (Ballyboughal) have charged 2 men this evening, the 31st August 2011.

They will appear before  Balbriggan District Court at 10.30am on the 1st September 2011.

As a result of an intelligence led investigation a search was carried out by members of the Garda National Drugs Unit this evening, Tuesday, the 30th August 2011, at a rural dwelling house in North Co. Dublin (Ballyboughal).

A fully functioning growhouse was discovered with approximately 350 plants at different stages of maturation. Also found were 4kgs of Herbal Cannabis.  The total estimated street value is €200,000 – subject to further analysis.

A sophisticated lighting and irrigation system was installed in two rooms in the house and one outhouse.

Two men aged 27 and 32 years were arrested and are now detained at Ballymun Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
