Fatal road traffic collision on the Roscarbery to Clonakilty Road, Cork on the 17/4/11

Gardai in Clonakilty are investigating the circumstances of a two vehicle fatal road traffic collision on the Roscarbery to Clonakilty road on the 17th April 2011.

The collision occurred at approx. 10.55 am 17th April 2011 on the Roscarbery to Clonakilty road (N71) approx 6 miles outside Clonakilty.  There were five adults in one car (2 females and 3 males), one of the females was fatally injured in the collision and pronounced dead at the scene, the other people in that car were taken to Cork University Hospital where their injuries are described as serious.  There were seven in the second car (2 adults and five children) they received minor injuries and were taken to Mercy Hospital, Cork City and have since been released from hospital.

The road has been closed off to facilitate a forensic collision examination and diversions are in place and is due to open later this evening
